In an interview with the CBS television, US Senator Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee defended new sanctions on Iran and said that this would send a strong message to the Iranian regime that refusal to act on the Geneva agreement would result in further sanctions on them.
Senator Chuck Schumer, a democrat also supported the new sanctions on Iran and told the New Republican that “I am concerned of the sanctions’ relief. These sanctions are what brought the Iranian regime to the table and are totally effective. One aspect of these sanctions is the economic pressure, but the other aspect is the fear of the increase in the sanctions.”
