General John Campbell, Commander of ISAF in Afghanistan took part in a Senate Armed Forces Committee hearing on Tuesday saying Iran provides weapons and money to Taliban insurgents in western Afghanistan.
He called on the White House to take into consideration the weakness of Afghan security forces and increasing attacks carried out by Taliban insurgents, and to reconsider its strategy of decreasing US military presence in this country.
During the past few days US forces have provided support to Afghan forces to retake the city of Kunduz from Taliban units.
