Update: Kazerun uprising continued for the second day, clashes in the city center

Iran, May 17, 2018 – Fresh clashes reported in Kazerun city, southern Iran, indicating that the uprising that started on May 16th and lasted through the night, continued on Thursday morning.

 

11:30 Thursday: Streets leading to the Kheyrat roundabout in the city center has been surrounded by the security guards and the anti-riot police. However, the brave youth of Kazerun are organizing themselves in to separate groups clashing with the security forces and creating barricades by setting fire to old tires in the middle of the road.

Reports also indicate that the anti-riot police is using teargas to disperse the demonstrators, but the youth groups are changing their positions by moving back and forth to keep their ground. The city of Kazerun is in turmoil.
