AP, United Nations, 19 Sep 2014 — The U.N. Security Council is condemning the Islamic State terrorist group and urging the international community to expand support for the Iraqi government as it fights the militants and their supporters.

The presidential statement approved by all 15 council members at a meeting Friday chaired by U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry expressed “deep outrage” at the killing, kidnapping, rape and torture of Iraqis and citizens of other countries by the Islamic State group.
It noted “that some of these acts may constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity.”
