Jeffrey Feltman, the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, briefed the Security Council Monday morning, 18 July 2016 on the follow-up one year after the adoption of resolution 2231 (2015), which endorsed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action agreed to between six nations and Iran on non-proliferation.
 
Mr. Feltman told the Council that in early March 2016, during military exercises, Iran launched a series of ballistic missiles. In this regard, the Secretary-General calls upon Iran to avoid such ballistic missile launches, which have the potential to increase tensions in the region.
