UN investigator, called banned by Iran, not fazed

United Nations – (AP) – Oct 27 – The United Nations special investigator on Iran is not fazed by a senior official’s announcement that he is banned from the country, saying, “He loves banning me.”
Ahmed Shaheed spoke Monday, a day before presenting his report on Iran to the General Assembly’s human rights committee.
Mohammad Javad Larijani, a senior judicial official, on Monday accused Shaheed of political bias.
Shaheed says he’s never been allowed into Iran and has been banned every year since was appointed in June 2011.
He pointed out, however, that technically Iran has issued a standing invitation to the U.N. special rapporteur.
Shaheed again condemned the execution on Saturday of Reyhaneh Jabbari, a woman convicted of murdering a man she said was trying to rape her.
