UK to urge India to help counter Iran nuke effort

Iran Focus, London, 26 July 2010 – British Prime Minister David Cameron will press India to support the international community’s efforts to deter Iran from building nuclear weapons during his visit to New Delhi this week, the Financial Times reported on Monday.
The paper quoted a UK official in New Delhi as saying that Cameron’s new government wants India to be more vocal about Iran’s continued enrichment of uranium, in breach of United Nations resolutions. “We hope Indian interlocutors can unpick the Iranian system and explain what the concerns are”, the official said.
Cameron, who took office in May, will be accompanied on his trip by Foreign Secretary William Hague and six other UK cabinet ministers.
Annual trade between Iran and India stands at $14bn (€11bn, £9bn).
