Two Pol prisoners executed igniting protests in Iran’s Khuzestan

Following the execution of two Iranian Arabs political prisoners by the names of Hadi Rashedi and Hashem Sha’bani on January 29th, people in various cities of Iran’s Khuzestan Province have staged numerous protests reaching an explosive state. On January 30th, over 500 people rallied in the city of Ramshir chanting “We will prevail and reach our demands”.
One of the executed prisoners wrote in a letter, “The only crime we committed was saying no to all those who are preventing the establishment of a free society.”
Arab youths chanted slogans describing the sacrifice of these two political prisoners.
Amnesty International and other human rights organizations had warned time and again about the execution of these two Iranian Arabs.
Pen International condemned the execution of Hadi Sha’bani, a poet, and said his confessions were taken under torture.
Head of detained writers committee in Pen International issued a statement in this association’s website strongly condemning this violation of the right to life for this poet.
