Tehran: the deranged and fluctuating situation of bread prices in the country

Reports from Tehran show that the price of bread in the capital has created a hectic and frustrating situation for the people. A loaf of ’Barbari’ bread is sold for 1500 tomans and for another kind, ’Sangac’ bakers ask for 1700 tomans.
One baker in Tehran Bazar acknowledged this deranged situation and said: ’Barbari’ was being sold for 1000 tomans a loaf until yesterday, but suddenly its price was jacked up on Wednesday to 1500 tomans, %150 increase.
No government agency has any control over the prices right now. They have assigned a phone number to answer the people’s grievances, but it never answers. The government has relived itself of all responsibilities.
