Tehran: Scuffle between police and a group of bike riders forced the police to retreat

The traffic police in recent days have resorted to slap heavy fines to motorists as a means of collecting funds for the agency’s expenses. With the drastic reduction in oil prices, government agencies have chosen other tactics such as fining motorists for many unreasonable accusations including listening to laud music.
In this case a number of motorcycle riders were stopped by traffic police at Jomhouri intersection in Tehran on Jan, 27th. The police had set up inspection stops with the aim of extortion. But these motorcycle riders clashed with the traffic police and chastised them.
Finally the inspection outpost was dismantled and the policemen fled to avoid being beaten.
