Human Rights Activists, 8 October 2010 – Tehran’s Bus Company (Sherkat-e Vahed) has refrained from paying the insurance of Tehran Bus Company employees for 2 months. Also, the Iranian regime’s Social Security Organization has prevented the revival and replacement of these employees’ medical treatment booklets. This issue has caused problems in the employees’ medical treatment and Bus Company workers have protested to this issue time and time again in the past.
According to the insurance contract, the Bus Company and its workers are obligated to pay the equivalent of 30% of workers’ salaries to the Social Security Organization for medical insurances, consisting of 23% provided by the employers (Bus Company) and 7% by workers. While the workers have paid their 7%, the Bus Company has refrained from paying its portion.
