Sen. Bob Corker Statement on Inspections of Iranian Military Complex

The following is the statement issued on Thursday, August 20th by US Senator Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, on reports concerning the agreement made between UN nuclear watchdog IAEA and Iran on inspecting the Parchin military complex where Tehran is believed to have carried out nuclear weapons development.
“I am disappointed the White House is claiming these secret arrangements between Iran and the IAEA are nothing, technical agreements when it is anything but that,” said Senator Corker. “These unorthodox agreements speak to how far the P5+1 nations, including our negotiators, were willing to go to keep from offending the mullah.
“Based on what we have been told in verbal, closed-door presentations by the administration, Iran would be thrilled to tell the world one day what they were able to achieve in these talks because it is clear Iran out-negotiated the United States and other world powers and pushed the IAEA to commit to an incredibly unorthodox inspections process that will set a terrible precedent for the future,” concluded Corker.
