Second phase of subsidiary plans cancelled due to fear of protests: Larijani

Following uprisings in Tehran’s Bazaar and other popular protests, Iran’s Majlis speaker Ali Larijani said the second phase of the so-called smart subsidiary plans have been cancelled due to fear of protests and popular unrest.
“Implementing the second phase of the subsidiary plan wasn’t in the interest of the state in the current conditions and will not be implemented any time soon. While the enemy is enforcing all out pressure against the country, carrying out the second phase of this plan wasn’t in the country’s interest and Majlis will not allow the government on this measure,” Larijani said.
“The enemies of the state have provoked the media and intend to create a climate of fear in the Islamic republic. We must consider that the enemy is executing a pre-planned operation,” Larijani added.
In the mean time, Dehghan, member of the Majlis board of directors said of the global sanctions against the regime, “In no other time have economic pressures from the West been to such an extent.”
