Saudi tightens security for its embassy, airlines

Amidst reports that members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards are plotting to hijack or bomb a Saudi aircraft, the Philippines provided heightened security measures to Saudi Arabian embassy and flag carrier in the country.
Avsegroup Chief Superintendent Pablo Francisco Balagtas said he has deployed additional police officers around the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminals after meeting with officials of Saudia Airlines on Wednesday, February 24.
Balagtas said police personnel from the Special Operations Unit equipped with two-way radios, assault and sniper rifles, binoculars and mobile phones augmented the security at the NAIA terminals and at the boarding area of Saudi Arabia flag carrier.
Bomb-sniffing dogs were also deployed in sensitive areas of the airports, he said.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) government has requested to have their own X-Ray machines, which will arrive in Manila soon, to be installed at NAIA terminals, according to MIAA officials.
It’s request came after Iranian protesters torched a Saudi Embassy in Tehran.
