Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said in Rome and Berlin prior to his meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov that Riyadh’s position regarding the crisis in Syria is permanent and based on the Geneva-1 statement. A transition government must be formed based on this statement to protect Syria’s national and regional unity, he explained.
Al-Jubeir went on to emphasize on Assad stepping down, describing him as the main reason behind all the destruction in Syria and the rise of terrorist groups. He called on the Iran to pull out its elements from Syria, including the Lebanese Hezbollah.
