Prisoner of conscience Executed in Iran

Fardeen Hossein, from the town of Haq in Iran, was hanged on January 26 in the courtyard of Ghezel Hessar Prison in Karaj, west of the Iranian capital of Tehran. He had already spent over 6 years behind bars and under torture.
Hosseini, 36, was attacked by Ministry of Intelligence agents in the fall of 2009 while heading for work. He was arrested and immediately placed under torture. His daughter, wife and other members of his family were also arrested and harassed in an effort to force him into a coerced confession. During his detention behind bars he had written a letter requesting the help of UN special rapporteur Ahmed Shaheed and other international organizations.
