The power struggle between Iran’s most senior officials has been escalating recently, especially considering the upcoming elections.
“If anyone says or claims they can fix the country’s economic status in just one night, rest assured that they are either crazy or nothing but a charlatan, said Ahmad Tavakoli, a member of Iran’s Majlis (parliament), in harsh remarks against Ahmadinejad’s faction.
“Financial corruption, mismanagement, wrong policies and wrong actions are just some of the various reasons behind the decreasing value of the rial and sky-rocketing prices of ordinary goods inside the country,” he said in a speech at the Birjand Medical Sciences University located in northeastern Iran.
These remarks show the severe effects of international sanctions on the mullahs’ crumbling economy.
