Reza Malek in Ward 350 of Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison has gone on a dry hunger strike after being transferred to solitary confinement due to his protest against abuse and intolerable prison conditions. He is currently facing serious danger due to his dry hunger strike and bad physical health after joining 17 other hunger striking political prisoners 5 days ago.
Reza Malek’s prison term ended in June 2009 yet the Iranian regime’s intelligence agents have refrained from releasing him. Reza Malek was the Intelligence and Security Ministry deputy chief at the time of Ali Fallahian. He was arrested on charges of publishing classified documents on the “chain murders” during Rafsanjani’s second term as president. Reza Malek had disclosed from inside prison that the Iranian regime executed 33,700 prisoners during the 1988 summer massacre.
