On Wednesday morning, the people and Bazaar merchants of Tehran staged anti-government demonstrations and uprisings, chanting ‘Death to this deceitful government’ and ‘Death to the Syrian government’.
Demonstrators rallied in Tehran’s bazaar and central streets, calling for widespread strikes and demonstrations.
Protesters marched towards Tehran’s Toopkhane Square and confronted the regime’s state security forces. Repressive forces responded by attacking the protesting people and bazaar merchants with batons and tear gas in an attempt to quell the protest and prevent it from spreading to other regions of the city. Reports indicate a number of protesters were arrested.

The regime’s repressive forces went store to store to prevent the anti-government protest from expanding and spreading. Protests of Tehran’s bazaar merchants, starting days before, erupted into large demonstrations on Wednesday and the merchants closed their stores and headed towards Sabze-Meidan Square. In the Nasser Khosrow Avenue, book bazaar merchants also closed their stores and joined the anti-government demonstrations, with popular support also provided by Tehran’s residents and especially the youth.

Protesters in the two squares of Toopkhane and Sabze-Meidan clashed with the regime’s repressive forces, and many of the demonstrators were beaten and arrested by State Security Force units. Reports indicate gunfire was heard in other regions of Tehran. Angry protesters also chanted slogans calling on Ahmadinejad to step down and resign, and calling on the regime to take measures to resolve the economic crisis instead of providing support for the Syrian regime.

Based on further reports, since the mullahs’ regime is unable to control the critical currency crisis, it resorted to dispatching repressive security forces to Tehran’s Ferdowsi Square on Wednesday morning to confront any protests. These units arrested numerous protesters at this square.
Other reports indicate protesters clashed with the regime’s forces. Anti-riot units were stationed throughout Ferdowsi Avenue and Istanbul Intersection, arresting and beating numerous protesters. Clashes reached Ferdowsi Square and repressive forces blocked the road to prevent other people from joining the protests.
Reports also indicate another demonstration took place outside Iran’s Central Bank in Vanak Square.
