The falling Assad regime in Syria and the shaky Maliki government in Iraq are issues of serious concerns for the mullahs’ dictatorship, reflected also in the mullahs’ state-run media.
One website wrote an article entitled “Iraq more important than Syria?” referring to the ill conditions of Iraqi President Jalal Talabani and the current crises in this country.
“Most definitely the US is seeking to place an individual in the Presidency that will topple Maliki’s government. In this case, he will have influence on the issue of Syria, which has a negative impact on the interests of the Islamic republic of Iran,” the state-run Tabnak website wrote.
“In fact, the West implementing its policies in Iraq will lead to the pro-West government in Baghdad to change Iran’s position in the Syria issue and this is no in the interests of the Islamic republic of Iran. Therefore, our government officials must focus their efforts to have an individual come to power that is not associated to Iran, but doesn’t not have anti-Iran positions either,” the article adds.
