The mullahs dictatorship expressed serious concerns regarding the eminent overthrow of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad, citing the transfer of Turkish warplanes to the Diarbakr Air Base near the Syrian border and the possibility of air raids against Assad’s forces by the UK, France, Italy and Turkey.
“… recent movements of the Turkish armed forces in transferring air force jet planes to the 8th Diarbakr Air Base once again shows the possibility of Turkey’s cooperation with the Arabic-Western alliance against Syria in air raids against this country,” the Revolutionary Guards’ Fars news agency reported. “Sources form Diarbakr report these warplanes, summoned from other Turkish air bases, are gradually landing in the 8th Diarbakr Air Base. Based on these reports, to this day 45 F-16 fighters of the Turkish Air Force have landed in this base.”
