Ali Akbar Velayati, Khamenei’s political advisor revealed the mullahs’ utmost fear regarding the possible overthrow of Assad’s dictatorship, saying Syria is the Iranian regime’s red line.
“Foreign envoys hold Damascus responsible for the current events taking place in Syria,” Velayati said recalling his meeting with a number of foreign envoys on the status of the Syrian dictatorship. “We in the Islamic republic of Iran believe there is an international conspiracy against Syria. Syria is our red line and we will not allow any international or regional party, who seeks to overthrow Assad, to intervene on this matter.”
