Mullahs’ Majlis members use harsh rhetoric against Rouhani in open session

INTV, 29 Sep 2013 – In today’s open-door session of the mullahs’ Majlis (so-called parliament), two of the members in their remarks attacked Rouhani with harsh rhetoric for making a telephone call to US President Barack Obama.
“The US is seeking the Islamic republic’s surrender… the Majlis is a firm supporter of the supreme leader… during the ‘heroic flexibility’ one must come to know the enemies, the ‘Great Satan’ (read the US) and their excuses and not have courtesy before such issues. On the other hand, one must be careful of the smile policy (!) because smiles must come with action… we call on the president to have heroic flexibility yet not retreat from the main principles and values,” said Mullah Salek, representative of Isfahan.
Mullah Resaei said, “At the end of the trip an incident occurred that must be evaluated. Breaking the 34-year long resistance of the Islamic republic senior officials and not giving in to direct negotiations with the US… this is not a simple mistake. It is not clear why Mr. Rouhani based on what argument at the end of his trip accepted negotiations over the phone based on the request made by the US side.”
Reminding Rouhani’s claim that the White House had suggested this communication, and by referring to the remarks made by US National Security Advisor who said the regime’s delegation had requested this phone call, Mullah Resaei added, “In my opinion, the telephone conversation with Obama even if they had requested it came at a very high price.”
