US Senator John McCain slammed Russia and Iran over backing Bashar al-assad in massacring the Syrian people.
Senator John McCain’s strong comments came during a live TV debate  with Alexei Pushkov, Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Committee for International Affairs.
Senator McCain criticised Russia for supplying arms to the Assad regime and said Syria had simply replaced the chemical weapons it had given up with cluster bombs that were killing randomly.
McCain accused Assad of committing war crimes and said “we all know what happened in Syria, we were winning and then 5000 Hezbollah came in and Russian and other Iranian equipment came in heavily and the Iranian revolutionary guard and the momentum of the battlefield shifted”. McCain criticized US policy in handling the Syrian issue and added” the president of the United States said it’s not a matter of whether; it’s a matter of when Bashar Assad leaves. Then the fact is that’s not true.”
