
Is’hagh Jahangiri, first vice president of Hassan Rouhani admitted a huge amount of money has been taken from the Central Bank of Iran, and yet never paid back.
“Seif, head of the Central Bank, wrote a letter to the government about a large amount of money being taken from this bank during the past few years. The Central Bank chief has written this bank is under pressure to have this money returned,” he said on Sunday, August 30th after a cabinet meeting.
Rouhani has said if this money has been taken legally, the government is committed to repaying it. However, if it has been illegally taken, those involved in this case must be referred to the judiciary.
Jahangiri has promised to name the individuals involved and the amount of taken out of the bank the moment a report on this issue is prepared by the monitoring apparatus.
