Local law firm represents victims of Iranian terror

WEAR-TV, may 23rd 2017— Injured veterans, their families, and Gold Star families filed a lawsuit against Iran for terror against Coalition Forces, civilian contractors, and Iraqi citizens who were trying to help the country following its liberation.

The lawsuit refers to 16 separate attacks in Iraq that were allegedly conducted by agents of Iran. It claims that Iran recruited, trained, and funded Iraqi terrorists. Supposedly, these terrorists were given the deadliest IED’s and paid bounties to kill U.S. civilians and soldiers with Iranian-supplied munitions and weapons.

Pensacola lawfirm, Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor, P.A., as well as six other law firms were named as co-counsel in the case. They are expected to play a large role in the litigation of these claims.

“Based on all available evidence today, there is no doubt that Iran purposefully waged a campaign of terror against our troops and coalition partners for the sheer purposes of destabilizing the region and disrupting the democratic potential of Iraq,” said Christopher Paulos, of the Levin Papantonio firm.

“The attacks committed by criminal groups within Iraq utilized Iranian-trained individuals armed with Iranian-manufactured or provided weapons, and were financed and directed by Iran. We intend to pursue Iran and its agents, as well as its co-conspirators, using U.S. laws to hold those responsible for committing or materially supporting Iran’s efforts, without which our clients would not have been attacked and injured,” Paulos continued.
Data suggests that the majority of the U.S. casualties in the war resulted from attacks linked to Iranian-sponsored terrorists.

“Every day we work on this case, we are finding more ties between Iran and the attacks on our citizens and service members in Iraq,” said Gavriel Mairone, whose law firm is exclusively devoted to representing victims of terrorism. “This investigation gives us the opportunity to hold state sponsors of terror, and those who support and facilitate terrorism, responsible for their abhorrent, systematic killing and maiming of U.S. soldiers and civilians who were on the ground to maintain peace and stability.”

Nine European banks have already pleaded guilty and entered into deferred prosecution agreements with U.S. regulators stating that they conspired with Iran, the Central Bank of Iran, and several other Iranian banks, to illegally give billions of U.S. dollars to Iran during the Iraqi War.
