In an interview with the BBC World Network, Hossein Abedini, member of the National Council of Resistance (NCRI)’s Foreign Relation’s Commission assessed the dismissal of Larijani as indication of the internal mullahs’ regime’s crisis and its insistence on continuance of nuclear activities.
Q: What is the consequence of Larijani’s resignation on the nuclear talks of the Iranian regime with the European Union which are supposed to take place on Tuesday?
Abedini: We believe Ali Larijani is dismissed by Khamenei. This is based on the reliable sources that we have received from our sources inside Iran. Prior to his dismissal, Yahya Rahim Safavi, the high commander of the IRGC was dismissed. Also a number of Ahmadinejad’s Ministers have been replaced. These changes indicate the elevating internal crisis of the religious dictatorship. Khamenei and Ahmadinejad want to advance their nuclear weapons program…Deep differences existed between Larijani and Ahmadinejad. Based on what Mrs. Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President-elect had already stated: “Election of Ahmadinejad was a declaration of war to the international community and the Iranian people. This regime has confronted against the great majority of Iranian people.
Responding a question regarding the continuation of nuclear talks with the Iranian regime, Abedini called it fruitless and added: The only way to encounter this regime is decisiveness; a correct policy based on comprehensive sanctions against it. This policy should also include the support of the democratic resistance of Iran. The practical path for advancing this policy is to remove the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) from the terrorist list because the designation of this Organization in terrorist list gives the mullahs a mistaken message.
