Rouhani Interior Minister: Iran’s human rights record is luminous
Lady Ashton’s trip to Iran in the midst of executions, and meeting with those who are proud of torturing, killing and executing is a violation of human rights and democratic values and the rule of law
Mohammad Javad Larijani, Secretary General of the High Council for ‘Human Rights’ in the mullahs’ judiciary, while calling “decisiveness” in “executions” as a “great service to mankind”, called the mullahs’ barbarisms in implementing Qesas (retribution) as a source of “life”. He said: “Unfortunately, international entities, instead of appreciating Iran, are using the increase of executions in Iran due to its decisive approach towards drugs as a cover to attack the Islamic republic of Iran’s human rights”. While talking in a meeting with the presence of Mullah Rouhani’s Interior Minister, he said: “This issue is an honor for the judicial system and security apparatuses and our expectation from international entities and the world is to appreciate the great service to mankind… it is clear that the aggression towards Iran in the name of human rights has no human rights bases and their main goal in objecting to execution in Iran is actually the issue of Qesas, while Qesas is the right of all citizens and there is life in it”.
Rahman Fazli, Mullah Rouhani’s Interior Minister called the regime’s miseries and criminal human rights record a “luminous record”, and said: “These achievements must be introduced by our diplomats around the world”.
These disgusting remarks by the senior officials in the mullahs’ regime comes at a time when since the beginning of 2014, at least 154 individuals have been executed, a number of whom were women and minors who upon arrest were under the age of 18, and the issuance of criminal sentences for the amputation of limbs and eye gouging and cutting off ears and noses still continues.
The trip of EU High Representative Lady Ashton to Iran in the midst of arbitrary and mass executions and the issuance of medieval sentences, and meeting with senior regime officials who are proud of torturing, killing and executing is a flagrant violation of values such as democracy, human rights and the rule of law and it will only encourage the mullahs’ regime to intensify these crimes.
