Killing 3 protesters at Iran prisons sounds alarm for more crimes

Baghdad Post, January 17 2018 – Recent reports from Tehran confirm three detainees were tortured to death. The reports sound the alarm for the international community to take steps to thwart further crimes against Iranian detainees.

The three Iranians have been tortured to death at Tehran and Arak prisons.

The killing of the protests prompted 40 MPs to submit a request to the Parliament Speaker, Ali Larijani, to form a committee to investigate killing protesters at detention camps.

On Dec. 28th, wide-spread protests hit all over Iran against clerical rule and corruption.

At least 23 protesters were killed at the hands of Iranian police. Hundreds were injured.

More than 7.300 Iranians were arrested. Dozens of them were sentenced to death over plotting against the so-called “Divine Republic”.

Mullahs have accused US, Israel and Saudi Arabia of being behind the protests.

Analysts told the Baghdad Post that the reaction of the Mullahs’ regime towards the protests that have recently swept major Iranian cities exposes their terrorism.

Investigation required

The MP, Mahmoud Sadeghi, called for a thorough investigation into the death of three prisoners in prison.

He identified the victims as Sinai Qanbari who was killed at Evin prison north of Tehran; Wahid Haidari who was killed at a police station in the central city of Arak.

“The death of these two youths in mysterious circumstances requires thorough investigation by the concerned authorities,” Sadeghi said.

The Parliament as the body that represents the Iranian people  calls for the formation of a commission of inquiry into the death of some detainees under mysterious circumstances, he added.

He pointed out that there were other protesters killed  at prisons, the authorities have not announced anything about them.

Mullahs seek revenge

A report published on The New York Times quoted   Iranian officials as claiming  two young men committed suicide in custody while another who was described  as “terrorist” was killed in clashes with security forces.

The report cited sources close to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani as saying “those suicides make people angry, they are seeking answers”.
