The mullahs’ regime supreme leader Khamenei is preparing the grounds to eliminate his long foe Rafsanjani as head of the Expediency Council, another clerical body, established to supposedly resolve disputes between government and Majlis (parliament).
“After 5 years, the current term of the Expediency Council will come to an end next month, and based on the constitution Khamenei will assign the members and the new chair of this council,” the state-run ISNA news agency reported. “Will Hashemi Rafsanjani remain as the council chair? The 5th Expediency Council is coming to an end while Rafsanjani has already been set aside as the chair of the Assembly of Experts.”
It is worth noting that the so-called ‘Assembly of Experts’ – established by Khomeini, the founder of the mullahs’ regime – is an appointed clerical body that picks the supreme leader and hypothetically has the right to recall the incumbent, Khamenei.
