Karaj City: Taxi drivers protest against gas rationing cut

A number of Karaj taxi drivers went on strike on Sunday Jan. 18th to protest against their special gas ration being cut by the government. They also protested against the increase in gas prices and eliminating a special consideration of the gas price being set at 4000 Rials for Taxis.
These taxi drivers used to receive an extra ration of gas for the type of job and a favorable price of liter of gas assigned for them which is less than the normal prices.
They are currently paying 4000 Rials per liter of gas, something which is set only for taxis and other public vehicle. But rumors are that this special deal is being canceled and while the cost of living has skyrocketed, taxis have to pay as equal as private cars in the country which is about 7000 rials per liter.
