Khamenei’s military advisor and assistant Rahim Safavi, a former Revolutionary Guards chief commander, expressed serious concerns on the consequences of Bashar Assad being overthrown in Syria.
“If Bashar Assad is set aside from power, the Lebanese Hezbollah will come next, thus the Iraqi government and finally the Islamic republic will be attacked by the enemy,” he said.
