Iran launches arms support for Maliki’s government following increasing clashes between armed tribes and the people of al-Anbar and other provinces against state forces, the Kuwait-based al-Seyassah daily reported.
“Iran has sent three arms shipments to Iraq to support operations staged by Maliki’s military forces in al-Anbar. Three trucks carrying weapons belonging to Iran passed through the two countries’ border in the Meysan region in southern Iraq. The weapons have been transferred to bases linked to forces of Maliki’s army.
“This shipment contains short ranged surface-to-surface missiles, high-tech missiles and heavy artillery cannons. In the next few days Quds Force commander Ghasem Suleimani intends to have a secret visit to Iraq to evaluate the issue of military support for Maliki’s government.
