The Baghdad TV reported: Informed sources said that the political efforts for meeting of Rafsanjani with Tariq al-Hashemi, Iraq’s Vice President were futile.

These sources added: “Rafsanjani did a lot of activities to have this meeting down, particularly that the Iraqi Vice President didn’t participate in the welcoming ceremony the Iraqi President had arranged. These sources said: “Tariq al-Hashemi’s not meeting with Rafsanjani is due to undetermined files with the Iranian regime, mainly the situation of the 8-yr long Iran – Iraq war. Other issues are Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq, border problems, and drying out the water resources by the Iranian regime.
