‘Iraq elections is Islamic republic popularity referendum’: Iranian official

Before the official announcement of the Iraqi election results, a member of the Iranian regime’s senior inner circle by the name of Amir Mussavi said, “One can consider the recent Iraqi parliamentary elections as a referendum on the popularity of the Islamic republic of Iran”.
With his remarks being posted in Iran’s official state-run IRNA news agency on May 18th, Mussavi went on to describe Maliki’s complete obedience of Khamenei.
“Maliki in his regional speeches has clearly spoken of his relations with Iran. He even clearly said in one of his speeches that ‘I wish we could have a ‘supreme leader’ like in Iran’.
This Iranian regime official also shed light on the mullahs engineering the elections in Syria and Lebanon, in addition to Iraq.
“The election results in Iraq, also the probable election results in Syria and Afghanistan were all in line with our national interests, and with the good results in the Lebanese elections all conditions will end in Iran’s favor,” he added.
