Iran’s Ministry of Security and Intelligence (MOIS) agents raided a number of homes in the cities of Karaj and Shahriar, located west of Tehran, arresting a number of people including Babak Saran. These vicious raids, beginning 7 am Wednesday morning and continuing for two and half hours, targeted at least 4 residential homes including those of the following families:
Heshmat Saran, Samimi, Shah Rezaii and Houman.
The raid against the Heshmat Saran family home led to the arrest of Babak Saran, 26, and the agents also intended to arrest Bahador Saran who wasn’t home at the time.
During the attack on the Samimi family home, Mehdi Samimi, 36, was arrested. Later on the home of a youth by the name of Human was attacked in the city of Karaj and he too was arrested. Following these attacks, the home of the Shah Rezaii family was raided, with agents intending to arrest student activist Ahmad Shah Rezaii, yet he wasn’t home at the time being away on military duty.
The raids were carried out by MOIS agents led by Karaj MOIS agents Mohebi and Mohammadi, attacking and surrounding the Saran family home with 4 vehicles and many agents. The family’s personal property such as telephone notebooks, satellite receivers, ID cards and papers, computers, books and other items were confiscated.
Following the widespread strikes and popular protests in Tehran’s Bazaar and other cities, Khamenei’s regime is completely frightened and has resorted to group executions and widespread arrests to create a climate of fear throughout the country.
Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran condemn these raids and suppressive measures by Khamenei’s MOIS agents, calling on the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and other international organizations to refer Iran’s human rights dossier to international judicial institutions.
