Iranian women’s rowing team protest against authorities’ behavior

Iran’s national women’s rowing team have gone on strike over lack of pay and a shortage of beds at their training camp that forced them to sleep in a prayer room.
Rowing champion Arezo Hakimi, 17, told the ISNA state-run news agency on December 16: “The strike of we national sportswomen is due to poor state of the team camp, and especially the fact that we had nowhere to sleep.
The rowing team had also not been paid, Ms Hakimi said, adding: “Recently with the arrival of the nation al tennis team to the dormitory, the rowers were asked to leave their accommodation and rooms and sleep in the prayer room which caused a protest among team members.”
