Fearing a repeat of the 2009 nationwide uprisings that rattled the very foundations of their regime, the mullahs have conducted maneuvers in Tehran and announced that 31 thousand paramilitary Basij members participated in this maneuver.
“A part of the preparations was about the Bassij battalions becoming prepared to confront the anarchists or insecurity that were planned by our enemies inside the country,” IRGC commander Mohammad Ali Jafari said. “These preparations have increased following what took place in 2009.”
