Deputy chair of the Iranian regime’s Majlis (parliament) Hygiene and Treatment Commission said the amount of ‘benzene’ and lead in Iran’s home-produced gasoline produced in petrochemical plants and refineries is higher than normal.
The state-run Mehr news agency cited Abdulrahman Rostamian saying on Sunday, June 22nd, “Of the 70 million liters of gasoline produced inside the country only 14 million liters is graded as Euro-4 and clean gasoline, while the remaining has contamination that cause air pollution.”
“The benzene existing in home-produced gasoline petrochemical is about 5%, and this has to be lowered to less than 1%,” he added.
Other than benzene and lead, other aromatic compounds such as added octanes including MTBA and MMT, are used in the gasoline produced inside the country. The regime’s environment organization said the home-produced gasoline is ‘dangerous’.
