On Saturday, February 20th two labor protest rallies were witnessed in the cities of Kashan, central Iran, and Karaj, west of Tehran.
Kashan – Workers of the Parand Yarn Company intended to stage a rally outside the industrial complex yet they faced resistance from the police. The police were seen on high alert, fearing the protest rally would spread before the upcoming sham twin elections.
The fed up workers, unemployed for months now, have yet to see their demands addressed and none of the government officials respond to their requests.
In Karaj a group of Refah store employees in Tehran held a protest rally. The store management team, linked to the Revolutionary Guards, threatened to expel the workers in response. However, seeing the protesting workers were steadfast on their decision they promised to provide for their demands, fearing the protests would spread to other stores in the complex.
