Iranian regime authorities in Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, are refusing to transfer a Kurdish political prisoner to a hospital to receive desperately needed medical care.
This political prisoner is Karim Yousefzadeh and he is from the northwestern city of Urumieh. He has been internally exiled in Bandar Abbas. He is currently suffering from intestinal illnesses and internal bleeding, and needs to undergo surgery. Furthermore, in such conditions the authorities are refusing to provide him care claiming they don’t have the budget to even provide him his necessary medicine.
Karim Yousefzadeh, active in Urumieh in cultural activities, was apprehended on July 29th, 2009, and then condemned to six years behind bars in branch 101 of Urumieh’s so-called revolutionary court. He was transferred to Bandar Abbas Central Prison on 24 November 2009.
