Al Jazeera TV, 25 Nov 2012 – Free Syrian Army High Military Council spokesman Lui al-Meqdad said in an interview with Asharq Al-Awsat daily Iran’s parliament speaker in his trip to Damascus and meeting with the Syrian defense minister, with senior military officers taking part, said Iran will continue its support for Syria and its president Bashar Assad.
Al-Meqdad reiterated in another session Larijani held talks with security officials stressing Iran will continue backing them and guarantees the lives and security of their families. Al-Meqdad said Larijani stressed to these officers Iran will not allow the Syrian regime to fall even if it needs to engage in direct military engagement.
