Iran: Widespread support for Kurdish political prisoners on hunger strike

Political prisoners in a number of prisons including; Ghohar-dasht, Zahedan, Sanandaj and in south of Iran took part in a hunger strike to support the Kurdish political prisoners in Urumia prison.
In a coordinated measure, a number of political prisoners in Ghohar-dasht prison issued a statement on Sunday Nov. 30th supporting the two main demands of Urumia political prisoners. They demanded to have a separate Ward from the common criminal ward, and also putting an end to the discriminatory and inhuman behavior by warden and prison authorities.
The statement read in part: “We, as a group of pol. Prisoners in Gohardasht-Karaj prison call on all political prisoners throughout the country to join in and to support the cause of the hunger striking prisoners. We also call on all international and human rights organizations and international humanitarian organizations to take tangible and binding steps to end the torture and harassment of political prisoners in Iran.”
According to this report all Kurdish political prisoners in exile in the southern part of Iran issued a statement on Sunday November 30th announcing their solidarity with the hunger striking pol. Prisoners.
So far and in a coordinated move, about 30 Kurdish pol. Prisoners in Urumia Central prison have gone on hunger strike where a number of them are having difficulties and their health is deteriorating.
