Iran: We demand Zeinab’s urgent treatment and release from prison!

A group of civil, political and women’s rights activists demanded leave, urgent medical treatment and the release of an Iranian Kurdish political activist by the name of Zeinab Jalalian. Jalalian was arrested in 2007 at the age of 24 and is currently held in Khoy Prison.
Jalalian was convicted to death in 2009 for membership in a Kurdish dissident movement. In 2011 her sentence was lowered to life in prison. She has been in prison for nearly 9 years now and to this day has not been allowed any leave at all.
Jalalian has lost her physical health due to the intense torture she has been placed under after being arrested, and now she is on the verge of completely losing her eyesight. Furthermore, she has suffered severe intestinal infection and internal bleeding in prison, and is currently in need of urgent medical care.
Her family has emphasized their daughter’s vision problems began after undergoing severe torture in prison.
This statement goes on by referring to the court hearings held for Jalalian. The court hearings held for the allegations raised this political prisoner, like many other political prisoners, were held behind closed doors without any lawyer representing her. The entire session lasted only a few minutes and Jalalian has always denied all the charges.
