AFP, Washington, 3 Jan 2012 – Iran’s warning to a US Navy aircraft carrier not to return to the Gulf reflects ‘weakness’ on the part of Tehran, the White House said Tuesday.
The Islamic republic’s latest warning ‘reflects the fact that Iran is in a position of weakness,’ White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters, adding Tehran’s threats suggest ‘a measure of the impact that the sanctions have been having on Iran.’
