Hossein Rahimi, the head of the State Security forces, SSF, in Sistan and Balouchestan province, southeastern Iran, announced that his forces have arrested 18 civilians from the province. These men are accused of clashing with the suppressive SSF which has resulted in the killing of a number of the SSF in that region. He did not corroborate on the time and the area of the clashes and subsequent arrest.
It is widely reported that the dictatorial regime ruling Iran has been engaged in a campaign of terrorizing local civilians in the border regions of the country especially in the southeast and northwest regions under the pretext of fighting against terrorism and smugglers actually to prevent any decent amongst the local people. The Balouchis are one of such people that are usually the target of these attacks.
