During the raid of suppressive forces to remove satellite dishes in Tehran’s Shah Nazari Street in MirDamad Boulevard, Mr. Ali Mohammad Khoei, 65, was killed. This incident on September 28 occurred when police suppressive forces stormed the homes of the area and began collecting satellite dishes.
When the mercenaries wanted to enter the building complex where Mr. Ali Mohammad Khoei was its manager, he demanded them to provide ID cards and permission, but State Security Forces (SSF) threatened to arrest him and physically assaulted him, causing him to fall down and he died as a result of his head hitting the ground. State Security Forces threatened family members of the victim against any information sharing and pursuing legal prosecution.
Emergency plan for removing satellite receivers, which has begun since June in different parts of Tehran, has accelerated since last week.
Revolutionary Guard Mohammad Fazeli, Deputy Commander of IRGC intelligence protection in Khorasan Razavi Province, in an unprecedented acknowledgment on September 28, announced the existence of 50 million satellite receivers in Iran. He acknowledged that in order to deal with the issue, collecting satellite dishes by security forces was not fruitful. (State Media –September 27). Before him, Mullah Mohseni Gorgani, Chief Justice of the regime told the regime’s officials about satellite that “they need to take special measures to prevent this ‘uprooting’ flood because tomorrow is too late” (Fars News Agency, Iranian Revolutionary Guards, May 28, 2014).
The attempt of the religious fascism ruling Iran to prevent people’s access to TV satellite networks, along with widespread suppression in the Internet field, is indicative of the fear of the regime leaders from people’s access to free flow of information and increasing uprising of the people who are frustrated by the tyranny and oppression of the regime.
