According to Iran prison reports received from inside the country, a relative of a Shahr-e Kord Prison inmate make significant remarks about the reason behind the recent riot in this facility that lead to an arson in this facility and 11 prisoners losing their lives.
“The reason behind this riot was that a number of death row inmates were told they will be executed after Rouhani’s visit to Shahr-e Kord. Following this news the inmates of Shahr-e Kord and especially those on death row staged a riot. During this riot the prison authorities closed the prison cell doors and prevented any efforts to save the inmates trapped in the blaze,” the relative said.
