More than 35 people have been killed and at least 82 wounded and dozens missing after a torrential rain and flooding in Tehran and Karaj provinces in Iran.
Reports indicates that at least 5 villages have been surrounded by water and many housed destroyed. Many residential areas have been destroyed and residents are in desperate need of help.
High water is surrounding houses, shops and roads. In addition to Tehran and Karaj provinces, flood has taken over many other provinces, including northern Khorasan, Zanjan, Semnan, Qazween, Kurdistan, Kerman and Mozanderan.
In Alborz province, according to government officials, more than 12 people have been killed, while dozens are still missing. 14 people have been reported killed in Sijan Township alone. 8 more have lost their lives in ’Can’ district.
Flood has destroyed about %30 of the rice fields in northern Mozanderan province.
