Iraj Nadimi, a member of Iran’s Majlis (parliament), in his remarks in an open session revealed the Rouhani regime’s policy of forging statistics regarding unemployment.
“If God forbid we think we can fix the problem just by doctoring statistics, we have actually created more problems. Today, we are faced with a group of people that are seeking methods to flee from any responsibility and duty. They are increasing and decreasing the statistics. 2 million, 1 million, 3 million… short and simple, whoever in this country doesn’t have a lasting job, doesn’t have a monthly job, doesn’t have a yearly job, they are considered unemployed. Or even those who have a hard time making ends meet have problems, and these problems are not fixed by doctoring the numbers and saying working two hours a month is considered as having a job. Can one actually make ends meet with two hours of work a month?” he said.
In this same session another Majlis member by the name of Agha Mohammadi from Khoram Abad admitted the widespread unemployment amongst educated youths in this city.
“Lorestan Province has a population of 1.75 million and over 500,000 people are unemployed. 160,000 of them have BS and MS degrees. 40% of this unemployed population is in the province’s capital and cities like Khoram Abad. Between three to four percent of the province capital moved to other provinces in order to find jobs and make ends meet, meaning every 5 years 150 to 200 thousand people flee this province due to poverty. Each year we rank first in unemployment in the country and unemployment amongst our youths is over 50%,” he said.
